With many suppliers using common hauliers, one pharmaceutical company realised that this combined haulage solution often caused restricted container values.
They turned to Supply Chain Precision’s team of experts for a solution.
By auditing which suppliers are using combined haulier services, the team was able to implement planning and software processes which enabled them to group those orders together and make better use of set palletised loads.
Supply Chain Precision designed and built a system which optimised the ‘common haulier code’ function and other ERP operations to digitally build loads of 24 palette containers in accordance with the haulier and not the individual supplier.
Careful planning and design allowed the system to operate as normal for suppliers generating individual codes, whilst delivering a higher level of functionality inhouse. Supply planning, inventory planning and goods inward/warehousing all benefited from a more time efficient system supply and demand management system.
